“ This may be my new favorite Shanghainese restaurant in Queens. We tried the beef and pepper noodle soup, crab roe noodles, loofah squash with gluten puffs, garlic shrimp with vermicelli and iced lemon tea. We enjoyed every single bite! The flavors are reminiscent of home style cooking - familiar and comforting. The crab roe noodles are way better here than any other place I have tried. It was such a cozy meal and I will be bringing friends and family here soon! ”

“ We sat at a corner table which was nice for privacy and more spacious since we had a baby with us but the waitstaff never checked if we needed anything and they could not see us raise our hand. We had to constantly get up to find our waitress for napkins, extra tea etc Every food dish we picked was good. The soup dumplings were bomb. Great pick. Our duck dish was great, the duck was very lean and seasoned or overly salted. They don't give the thick buns. We had thin paper-ish wraps that were hard to pick up because they were stuck together. The duck bones they stir fried was overly salty. Overall this was my favorite dish. We ordered on the iPad but it also died midway. There is a $1 section where you can choose one item for $1 as long as you order at least $30 worth of items. I ordered an extra soup dumpling dish for $1 to go, that was a good choice. It's limit 1 $1 item per table. Will visit again because of the soup dumplings and the $1 offer! ”

“ Honestly really delicious food! I thought it was super good and the food came out fast! I had a great time with my family. My brother had actually been once before by himself and ordered takeout and suggested we come back as a big group to share a lot more food because he liked it a lot! We ordered the beijing duck, which is what we came for, and it was everything we wanted. The restaurant is well decorated, comfortable, and serves good food. I also thought it was fun that if you spent over a certain amount ($30?) you could get a few dishes for $1. That was pretty interesting and I'd never really seen that before. ”

“ My first time here and I was very well surprised by the menu and the delicious food ,soup dumplings were right on the money and so was everything else I have to say the Peking duck definitely stood out. It was probably one of the best I've ever had they also serve the bones of the duck sautéed on the side, which is a nice treat. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place. ”

“ Shanghainese food in the New World Mall is just a short escalator ride up to the 2nd floor. Normally we would come to NWM for the variety of the food court in the basement, but we wanted to try more of the sit-down restaurants on the upper levels. On a weekday night, it's pretty quiet and getting a table is no problem. Tea & water was promptly brought to the table and ordering & payment is done on a tablet. Shanghai cuisine is known for their dumplings in different varieties, but the xiao long bao or steamed soup dumpling is probably the most famous. Everything we ordered is shareable and the current deal is if you order $30 worth of food, you can get a another one ($8.95 & under) for $1. We had a mix of cold and hot dishes, braised, steamed and stir-fried. Starting off with a cold dish, the Kau Fu (Braised Marinated Gluten) is a tasty vegetarian dish with mushrooms & bamboo shoots. Next up came the noodle dishes and we had the Pan Fried Crispy Noodles with Pork, Shrimp & Fish Fillet. The sauce in this was wonderful and was a great complement to the crunchy fried noodles. The other dish was sliced Rice Cakes with Shredded Pork & Pickled Vegetables and it reminded me of when my mom would make it when I was a kid. Next up was a parade of handmade dumplings, the Pan Fried Pork Dumplings, pretty standard for Shanghai restaurants and Boiled Chicken Dumplings. The boiled dumplings are great when dipped in the hot pepper oil sauce on the table. I can't say the Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings) were disappointing, just OK. The skins were not as delicate as other places and the contents of soup was a little lacking. I expect the savory soup inside to be steaming hot and to fill my soup spoon. We got the crab & pork and the taste was just not there. Overall, this was a very satisfying dining experience and I would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu. ”

“ BLUF: Good, but stiff competition in Downtown Flushing means that some dishes are better nearby. We've been to Lao Ke Le (老克勒) Shanghai Cuisine a few times and think it is one of the better restaurants in Downtown Flushing. The good: - Beef Pan-Fried Udon Noodle (牛肉粗炒麵): $13.95; $15.19 with tax. - Black Truffle & Pork Soup Dumplings (黑松露小籠包): $13.99; $15.23 with tax. As a reminder, keep the bamboo steamer lid when the soup dumplings are brought out. Otherwise, the soup dumplings will cool more quickly, stick to the steamer basket, and become more susceptible to breakage. - Pork Rice Dumpling (老克勒鮮肉湯圓): $9.50. - Salted Egg Yolk Crab with Fried Rice Cakes (咸蛋黃螃蟹炒年糕): $24.95; $27.16 with tax. Finger-licking good. Get this. - "Steamed Prawn with Glass Noodles and Garlic" -- Garlic Vermicelli Shrimp (蒜蓉粉絲開背蝦): $25.95; $28.25 with tax. Very good, although slightly overcooked at times. Get this. The OK: - Pan Fried Noodles with Shrimp and Crab Meat (蟹粉蝦仁拌麵): $19.95; $21.72 with tax. OK, but get the Crab Roe Lo Mein from Xie Bao in New York Food Court instead. - Mushroom / Vegetable Bun (香菇素菜包): $3.55; $3.87 with tax. - Pork / Shrimp Wonton Soup (鮮蝦豬肉小餛飩): $9.95; $10.83 with tax. The wontons are super silky. The Meh: - Soy Milk. Seems to be consistently watered-down. - Pan Fried Pork Buns (上海生煎包): better to get these from Pan Bao 66 in the basement food court. We've had both versions, and both were unevenly made. The crab and pork version of the buns we ordered were missing most of their soup filling. Other: - Those who dine-in and order over $30 worth of food may choose a dish that costs $8.95 and under, for $1. There is a limit of one offer per table. - Suggested tips are based on post-tax subtotals, and start at 18%. - The restrooms, outside the restaurant but on the same floor, are poorly maintained. ”
